Aluta Continua

I remember seeing the sign
“Aluta Continua”
That was years ago
When my world
Was still not making sense
A man standing next to me
Looked at me and from my face
He knew I was wondering what that meant

Not telling me what it really meant
He let my curiosity take its toll
He led me to a room filled with images
From Marcus Garvey to Mohandas Ghandi
Martin Luther to Malcolm X
Steve Biko to Walter Sisulu
Jomo Kenyatta to Nelson Mandela

From the Freedom Fighters
I could see one man, one vision
I could hear one cry, one voice
To keep on fighting for all our rights
Not only where there is light
Fight morning, noon and night
Fight till the time is right

At the end of his tour
He looked at me smiling
He shook my hand saying
The struggle still continues
